Brethren,

Those we support in Uganda have been busy beavers.   The congregation at Maliba has grown by seven baptized into God’s Kingdom.  Sedrack reported that their average attendance has been 130.  They continue to provide bible study classes for the children with his wife Jessica and another sister, Floreen, providing the teaching.

This congregation is much like ours.  They have no actual located preacher.  They utilize the talents of the men and this has resulted in getting them involved in the evangelistic activities.  They have involved themselves in carrying out ‘open air campaigns’ and conducting youth seminars.  Through their work in the southern Uganda area Sedrack reported 35 ‘souls saved’ in this joint work with other existing congregations they have worked with.

He advised they have the materials for the cement flooring, and are now saving for paying a person with skills to complete the job.

The future plans for the new year includes having a month gospel campaign in various places beginning January 6 and ending January 30. Over 28 preacher will involve   them selves in this effort of ‘door to door’ and open air campaigns.  He advised they already have the financial means to carry out this effort, with the preachers being determined to ‘reach into their own pockets’ for this funding.

He thanks us for our continues support and prayers

The report from Brother Simon at Soroti was also very uplifting. He advised he had participated in a preachers seminar held in Busia District of Eastern Uganda, and in the annual youth seminar held between December 16-19.  The aim of this seminar is to train the youth in sound doctrine, and it provides the young to meet others, there were three baptisms.

He further advised he, along with brother Solomon Iriot of the Mukura church of Christ, visited the congregation of Kobwin church of Christ, with a membership of only six.  They spent their time encouraging these Christians and plan future trips to them.

He advised the Soroti congregation continues to grow.

Regarding Brother Raymond.  He has been kept very busy in assisting the efforts we have with the East Valley and Clovis (Calif.) churches off Christ in the distribution of bibles in the language of the people.

As most know our congregation has supplied funds, we set aside, for the purchase of such bibles.  This effort has been coordinated through the efforts of Brother Patrick Young from East Valley.  He contacted Vernon and I the middle of December of the ability to purchase 246 bibles in a  dialect they were previously not printed in, with this information our congregation provided the remainder of the funds we had set aside along with funding from Clovis and East Valley in the purchase of these bibles.

This effort the last year or so has resulted in the purchase and distribution of, if my memory is correct, between 1500 and 2000 bibles for not only the congregations, but for those they study with.  This has proven to be our best effort to help evangelism in Uganda.  Brother Raymond and brother Musisale Tom have been traveling in distribution of these newly purchased bibles.

It appears those we support are producing much fruit in the work of the Kingdom. Please keep them and their families in your prayers this coming year.

Gary
