The day of the Lord is definately coming.  The day of the Lord is slow according to God's patience so we can come to Him.  But the day of the Lord will come like a thief...  The last thing we need to undestand about this day is it will be a surprise.  We do not know when that day is going to be.  If history is any indication, you might, as any of the scoffers, start to think it is never coming, because we've never seen it.  But know for sure that it is coming-- and when it comes all of the earth and everythnig in it is going to be burned up and destroyed.
